Welcome from the Almanac’s New Editor-in-Chief, Ken Korber

By Ken Korber

K-Korber.pngWelcome to 2020, a new decade. As your new Almanac editor, I am entrusted with the opportunity and responsibility to serve your professional information needs, especially as they relate to our online footprint.

My work begins on the shoulders of previous editors who have shared their expertise and experiences for the benefit of our Alliance members. So, let me tell you a little about me.

I am the CEO of the nonprofit Center for Functional Learning (CFL), which I founded after spending a long time in the CME world as faculty, curriculum developer, grant writer and program effectiveness assessor.

My background includes training and licensure as a medical and surgical physician assistant (PA), a published medical author, a medical science liaison (MSL) for the launch of Ranexa  and an association national education director for a primary care membership of osteopathic family physicians.

My efforts at CFL take me to the other (but just as important) side of the CE/CME patient care equation: patient education. I am happy to share that we measure the effectiveness of patient education materials as innovative tools and resources. Now, we can advance knowledge and foster behavioral outcome metrics from these accredited or non-accredited team-based initiatives.

The goals of my Almanac tenure will dovetail with the previous Editor-in-Chief’s goals and support the development of new podcasts for our “on-the-go” members.

My hope is that in the beginning of this new decade, we can continue to pique your professional interests, provide you with interesting content and spark your creative juices so that you’ll want to contribute to the stimulating information we provide you and your colleagues on a regular basis.

Do you have an idea that you’d like to see come to life in the Almanac? I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to reach out to me at centerforfunctionallearning@gmail.com.
