ACCME Newsletter (08/26/21) Vol. 12, No. 18

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has added five new features to its the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS). They include a dashboard view of programs; activity tagging for commendation criteria; data input for all activities; pre-validation of learner-identification data; and displays of any activities in the CME Finder. ACCME also offers resources to assist accredited providers in complying with the new Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education. Among them is an updated ACCME/American Medical Association Glossary of Terms and Definitions and the ACCME Academy's Key Concepts in the Standards for Integrity and Independence course. The course is a part of a wider Academy curriculum titled "Building Learner Trust with Accredited CE," which will have additional Standards-related courses. Also added to the Standards is a Transition Checklist, FAQs, a Standards toolkit, and a JAMA study detailing the revisions by ACCME President and CEO Graham T. McMahon, MD, MMSc.
