Reporting Learner Data in New PARS: More Opportunities, Improved Process

ACCME Highlights (07/19/21)

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has upgraded the Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) to include more learner data options. Accredited CME providers will be able enter, track and manage physician-learner data for all activities besides those registered for Maintenance of Certification (MOC)/Continuing Certification. The process for inputting learner data has been simplified via enhanced learner matching and concurrent disclosure of CME and MOC/Continuing Certification participation. Most learners will only have to enter their first and last name, month and day of birth and state of licensure in the data form. Providers also can pre-validate learner-identification data before entering information about CME and MOC/Continuing Certification participation through a learner matching application programming interface. Finally, the new PARS will offer providers a standard data-sharing permission statement when soliciting consent from learners to collect and report their data. The new version is scheduled for a late summer launch.
