ABMS Draft Standards for Continuing Certification Call for Comments Delayed Until April 2021 Due to COVID-19

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has postponed its call for comments for the Draft Standards for Continuing Certification from early December 2020 to April 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The board feels the delay will better accommodate meaningful public commentary by and engagement with key stakeholders, especially those who are currently focused on battling COVID-19. The updated call for comments opening date communications will include detailed information on sharing feedback, while enough time will be allocated to ensure enough stakeholders can participate. Meanwhile, ABMS and its member boards are moving ahead to address the recommended program changes and enhancements identified in the Commission's final report. ABMS also pledged to continue monitoring the pathway of the COVID-19 surge, consult with stakeholders and supply updated information on the opening of the call for comments as it becomes available.
