ABMS News Release (03/24/20)
Traction for the CertLink longitudinal assessment platform is building this year among American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Member Boards as a replacement for their 10-year, secure maintenance of certification (MOC) examination. The American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will retire its 10-year MOC examination after its final administration this fall, and physicians who participated in its longitudinal assessment pilot did better on the 10-year exam than non-participants. The American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics also will transition to CertLink and has begun enrolling all board-certified medical geneticists participating in its continuing certification program into the platform. The five remaining ABMS boards are pursuing their own CertLink pilots, with participants generally giving the platform a 97% approval rating.
