Executive Summary of the ACCME March 2018 Board Meeting

An executive summary of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Board of Directors meeting is now available. At the meeting, held in late March, ACCME ratified 57 accreditation and reaccreditation decisions, with providers receiving accreditation or accreditation with commendation. ACCME encourages CME providers to celebrate their success in achieving accreditation and communicate the value of their accreditation and accreditation-related accomplishments by informing their community, stakeholders, and the public. The executive summary also notes that the board convened a discussion with invited health care leaders on "Professional Development and the Transformation of American Healthcare." The guests, board members, and ACCME member organization liaisons discussed their vision for how ACCME and the CME community could evolve to support efforts to transform U.S. health care. The board also adopted a new strategic plan for 2018–2021, which outlines the organization's targets to drive transformation in the learning environment, support the CME community, and simplify and align regulatory systems.
